The biggest danger is getting to and from the trail. Beware of wet ice.
The trails were groomed again yesterday which worked some of the jagged ice down. Changing conditions overnight have made it hard and icy again particularly on the approaches to the trail. This afternoons mild temperatures should soften the trail. Standby for updates.
Ski conditions are reasonable today. Classic tracks are good. Skate is fast but bumpy. Good for snow shoeing. Not as good for walking as there is wet snow and water underneath the snow in low lying areas – one of the reasons that it is not suitable for grooming today. Also, we are only funded for grooming once a week at this point.

“Ski Heritage East is thrilled to announce that the City has come through with funding of $15k to help us get started on Grooming the Trail! Thanks in large part to the support of our Councillor, Deputy Mayor Bob Monette, Lafleur de la Capitale will begin preparing the Trail later this week, with a probable official launch next week.
We’ll be on CBC All in a Day at 3:20 today talking about it.
To groom the Trail for the full season, we still require $40k, so please continue to support us through our GoFundMe page. https://www.gofundme.com/help-groom-the-trail
We also hope to secure corporate sponsorships in the near future.
